SQL Server 2012 の xVelocity エンジンとは （旧 VertiPaq エンジン）

SQL Server 2008 R2 の PowerPivot で提供された「VertiPaq」エンジンが、SQL Server 2012 では（さらに進化して）「xVelocity」エンジンと呼ばれるように変わりました。
SQL Server 2012 の PowerPivot と Analysis Services テーブル モデル（表形式モデル：Tabular Model）のエンジンの正式名称は「xVelocity in-memory analytics engine」（xVelocity メモリ内分析エンジン）。
列ストア インデックスで採用されたエンジンの正式名称が「xVelocity memory optimized columnstore index」（xVelocity メモリ最適化 列ストア インデックス）のようです。
